Hi, I’m Kimberly!
Mark, my husband, and I moved to beautiful Wenatchee in August of 2025. I was quick to find an elementary school teaching position; my vocation of 30 years. Once my position ended, I took the opportunity to reflect on what I most wanted to do with my life. Was it to continue with teaching? I felt the nudge to pursue an alternate path. Baking has always brought extreme joy and I recognized that my passion for making delicious cakes and other confections could bring happiness to the members of our new community. Morningstar Cakes & Other Confections was born! I can not wait for the opportunity to bake for you!

I still fold batter with my dad's whisk. The handle is worn smooth in the same place his hand used to sit. The caramel is cooked in my uncle's copper bowl, which heats slowly and evenly the way nothing modern seems to.
Everything is made in small batches, to order, by me. That is a limit and also the point: four pickups a day means every cake gets the attention it deserves, and nothing sits waiting on a shelf.
